Idris Elba and Kristofer Hivju tested positive for coronavirus

Idris Elba and Kristofer Hivju have urged people to be vigilant about handwashing and social distancing following coronavirus diagnosis.

Actors Idris Elba and Kristofer Hivju have both announced on their respective social media sites that they had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Idris announced the news on early Tuesday morning (Philippine Time) that he has the virus through a post on Twitter.

He wrote, “This morning I tested positive for COVID-19.

“I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus.

“Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I'm doing. No panic.”

The said tweet was accompanied by a video showing the “Thor” actor with his wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba urging fans to be vigilant about handwashing and social distancing.

He said he was tested “because I realized I was exposed to someone who had also tested positive.”

Furthermore, he said he learned about the person's test results last Friday and had quarantined himself immediately.

“This is serious, you know? Now is the time to really think about social distancing and washing your hands.

“Beyond that, there are people who are not showing symptoms and that could easily spread. So now is really the time to be vigilant about washing your hands and keeping your distance.”

He then lamented, “We live in a divided world right now, we can all feel it.

“But now's the time for solidarity. Now's the time for thinking about each other. There are so many people whose lives have been affected.”

Similarly, 'Game of Thrones' actor Kristofer Hivju said he tested positive for COVID-19.

The actor, who is famous for playing Tormund Giantsbane, announced the news via his official Instagram account.

“Greetings from Norway! Sorry to say that I, today, have tested positive for COVID-19 or Coronavirus,” he wrote in the caption.

He then reassured fans that he and his family are self-isolating upon the news and urged that people practice social distancing to stop the virus from spreading.

“We are in good health -- I only have mild symptoms of a cold.

“There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis. So, I urge all of you to be extremely careful: wash your hands, keep a 1.5 meters distance from others, go in quarantine. Just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading.”
